A little while ago, my friend Andreas Lowe reached out to me with a unique idea, to create a set of pickups with real gold leaf embedded into the top plates.
It turned into a truly special and challenging project. Gold leaf is incredibly thin and delicate, requiring careful handling and precision at every step. I began by designing and crafting the top plates and Andreas took on the meticulous process of applying the gold leaf.
The set features a Swan Overwound in the bridge position, a Sweeney Todd in the middle and a Valhalla in the neck — a combination designed not only for visual impact but for tonal versatility as well.
The final result exceeded all expectations, blending craftsmanship, collaboration and artistry into something truly one of a kind.
