A few days ago, I completed a custom eSSB unit that I built for my father, who is a passionate radio amateur.
The unit is based on a LL1527 transformer from Lundahl Transformers, converting a balanced signal to unbalanced while extending the voice frequency spectrum for enhanced clarity and on-air presence. It also features two selectable attenuation pads (-20dB and -40dB), allowing precise signal level control.
The enclosure was CNC-engraved and the internal PCB was also CNC-machined. All XLR and RCA connectors feature gold-plated contacts and the custom interconnect cables were built using Mogami and Sommer Cables for optimal signal integrity.
A project built with attention to detail, performance, durability and most importantly, built with love for a very special person in my life.
I’m deeply honored that Lundahl Transformers featured this project on their official blog.
You can read their feature here.
Seeing a project built for my father receive this kind of recognition makes it even more special.
